Tag Book Tutorial

Remember this post. This is the long overdue follow up. Here is what you need...

2 matching patterned 12x12 sheets of designer paper
1 patterned 12x12 sheet of coordinating designer paper
2 sheets of coordinating cardstock, either 8 1/2 x 11 or 12x12
2 pieces of 6x6 cardboard, chipboard, mat board, etc.
Sticky strip or strong adhesive of choice.
Hole punch or Crop-a-dial
matching ribbon

Your first step will be to cut a 7 inch square from both of the matching designer papers. Adhere one 7 inch square of DP on to each piece of 6x6 cardboard/chipboard/mat board.

Miter the corners and adhere inward covering the cardboard. Here you can see one mitered, and one not.

Next cut a 6 inch square from the solid piece of cardstock and score 1/2 inch, flipping it over each 1/2. Your score lines should appear opposite, meaning the first would be a valley, the next a mountain, etc. Clear as mud?

Cut off 1 inch of the fold

Fold this one inch piece in half and punch a hole through the middle. This is your template. Put aside and save for later.

Accordion fold the now 5x6 inch scored cardstock. Punch three holes in the 3 mountain side using the template you created in the above step. With your Crop-a-dial you could do all three at once. (Four mountains go on the inside of the book)

Put ribbon through the holes

Adhere the binding onto the inside of your cardboard

Cut two 6 inch squares from the coordinating DS paper and glue to the inside of the cardboard, covering the binding. At this step I also adhered the ribbon to the inside of the covers so that it was hidden.

Use the remainder of the cardstock and DS paper to make 2 1/2 x 5 inch tags. Punch a hole in the top and put in matching fiber or ribbon. Adhere these tags inside the book.

Covers can be decorated ad lib. SU! Simply Scrappin' kits work great for this project. There are plenty of supplies in one kit to create this. Try it out!! Be sure to post a link here for all to see! Thanks for looking!
